  • Four performance subjects to choose from for solo, pair and group exams – Acting, Musical Theatre, Performance Arts, and Speech and Drama – encompassing a broad range of contemporary performance and theatre-making scenarios.
  • Designed for a range of drama teaching contexts, including one-to-one, classroom and Performing Arts schools.
  • All our drama exams allow teachers and candidates to choose their own performance pieces, enabling them to focus on their own interests or select work that complements their studies.
  • Solo and pair exams are recognised by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) and education authorities worldwide. In the UK, Grades 6–8 are eligible for UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) points.

  • Musical Theatre exams are for candidates who want to bring character and narrative to life through the integration of acting, singing and movement/dance.
  • As solo performers, in pairs or in groups, candidates perform and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of musical theatre works in a range of genres and styles.
  • The format of the exams allows candidates to focus on the works and genres that interest them.

Solo, Pair, Group | Initial–Grade 8

Performance Arts exams are for candidates who want to explore the variety of performance arts available.

As solo performers, in pairs or in groups, candidates demonstrate their skills in the imaginative and creative exploration and integration of different performance forms and materials. The performance forms that could be used include spoken word such as acting, prose reading, physical theatre, folk and traditional dance, improvisation, poetry and mime.
