Our Theater

About Us

I love working with young people who are passionate about performing and theatre. I adore passing on my experience and watching young performers grow in skill and self-confidence. My private coaching lessons allow me to share with students the vocal techniques required for being a successful Musical Theatre performer and singer, ensuring they develop these skills to the best of their ability. Your singing and drama coach specialist

Stephanie Johnson

Stephanie is a singing and drama coach specialist. She grew up immersed in the world of theatre. Guided by her mother, Musical Theatre and TV actress Meg Johnson, who is also the patron of Cornwall Theatre School, Stephanie spent most of her formative years sitting in the wings dreaming of being in the spotlight. She first appeared on stage at the age of 7.

Stephanie went on to train in Singing, Drama and Dance and landed her first professional role at 18, playing Dainty June in Gypsy. Following this, she toured nationally and performed in many West End productions. Credits include Cats, Grease, Chicago, Oklahoma and Aspects of Love. Stephanie has worked with leading industry professionals such as Cameron Mackintosh, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Trevor Nun and Arlene Philips.

After thirteen years treading the boards, Stephanie felt drawn to teaching and set up weekend West End workshops under the name of DramaScope. A two-year post teaching the LAMDA syllabus at Dean Close School in Cheltenham followed.

In 2005, Stephanie moved to beautiful Cornwall and Cornwall Theatre School was born. 15 years on, countless brilliant shows under its belt, outstanding exam results and fabulous memories made, CTS remains a much-loved school.

Stephanie also teaches a BTEC course in musical theatre on the Jason Thomas Performing Arts Foundation course, where many CTS students choose to continue their training. She is proud to say that many past CTS students are now attending nationally acclaimed vocational colleges or working in different areas of the business.

Happy Pupils

Why Choose Us

Over the four years of being under Stephanie’s tuition, I achieved Grades 6 and 7 Trinity Acting
exams at merit and distinction. In our classes I learnt different breathing and vocal exercises that
immensely enhanced the study of character and speeches. I also took part in amazing shows
which collaborated different students. I’m now currently a First Year at Mountview and training
as an Actor Musician. I couldn’t thank her enough for her huge help and awesome teaching. She
is an absolute joy to work with and I can guarantee you’ll learn a lot from her.

Samuel Brenton, 18

I was taught by Steph from the ages of 11 to 16. We did it all: from musicals to panto. This was
my first taste of drama and I couldn’t get enough of it. Every week our Friday night class couldn’t
come fast enough. This was the perfect place to hone and exercise my discipline as we covered
acting, dance and singing. The experience felt unique because Steph offered such a brilliant
insight into the industry and treated us all like professionals - whilst also having a lot of fun
along the way, of course! We were always encouraged to give everything we did our all...
